GO ROBOT!

I love this jewelry , smart and modern!

The designer for Go Robot, Stuart Breidenstei says,
“I constantly try to innovate and invent processes so that my jewelry stays fresh and is always on the cutting edge”

I think this is just awesome! I hope he keeps pushing those boundaries!
It is so important to invent new things as independent designers.
That is what makes it so special to purchase from independent designers.
Many times it is an experiment, with many outcomes, more reason to buy these works of art. Sometimes, once they are gone, they are gone!
Happy shopping!
Don’t forget to read the rest of Stuart’s profile!

Hi all,
I’ve decided that today is Surfin’ Tuesday! Maybe EVERY Tuesday will be Surfin’ Tuesday! Well on Saturday Julie and I were out surfing the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn, saying hello to some of our wonderful designers that were showing there!
We saw Twospace, absolutely fabulous!

and smashing India*Romeo

and
Tam Aura with her fantastic style!

Totally great to put faces with names and products! We love meeting our community so tell us where you will be and if we can make it we will!
So click the links and surf around our site a bit! Check out the new stuff and maybe some of the designers you haven’t seen in a while! Hopefully our designers are adding to their own favorites list so if you like you can surf our site based on your favorite designers favorites!
We were smashing people with our smashing stickers as well! If you happened to get one, you are one in a thousand peeps! Lucky you! If you have one that means you met us as well! See, we were standing right in front of you and you might not have even known it!
So have fun, hop the wave and surf your day away!
What else is there to do besides surf and shop on such beautiful day!?!
It is all in one place on Smashing Darling so that leaves you with plenty of time for the real beach after!

Who let the dogs out?
I know, now you are cursing us for putting that song in your head. However, we are so excited to finally have our first pet line on the site we had to let you know, even if it means we break into song.
Wonderdog NYC has opened a store on Smashing Darling. CLICK HERE to take a look for yourself. Their products are very well made, and the colors are sure to make your dog the best looking on the block.

The perfect side dish for a Wonderdog NYC collar would be the Andrea Valentini’s LuvMe2 Pet Carrier. It would push you over the top, but hey why not? A girls gotta look good!

What A Man Needs!
You guessed it, a good looking tie from Rachel Park. Not only would he look fantastic in it, but you would be proud to stand next to your spunky dad in one of these. Go get one, you won’t regret it.
If you need other Father’s Day hints check out the blog for our ideas:

Now back to you!
On a final note we wanted to see how Smashing Darling is doing. Ask for some help from you, and find out some answers. We’d love to hear what’s on your mind! Here’s what we’ve been wondering about:
- how are you liking Smashing Darling? Do you like the features so far, do you need others, should we get rid of something all together, what would help you as a designer, or you as a consumer have a Smashing time on the site?
- we are looking for shoe designers and menswear designers…if you know any let them know we are out there and that they should start a store.
- also, if anyone knows anyone in textiles doing great things in the US…tell them to stop by and start selling what they make. Anyone?

Smashing Darling has done it’s first collaboration! WOW! We thought it would be really cool to work with the creativity of the future, so we decided to start smashing up with students. We posted a wanted: Students ad on the RISD intranet and Wha – LA, Here it is!

Actually this one is really special, not only is it the first collaboration with a student for us, the student that answered us decided to collaborate with another student! I think it is always amazing to see what happens when you smash together 2 creative forces! You never know what will happen!
Clara and Breanne became BFFs in 2006 while in graduate school at the Rhode Island School of Design. Their ongoing collaboration is a combination of their respective aesthetics using hand drawn and vector based imagery. Currently Breanne is working towards an MFA in printmaking and Clara graduated in 2007 with an MFA in graphic design.
So we want to thank Clara and Breanne!
Congrats go out to Clara she graduated during this project!
So go snag one of these Red Hot Tanks before they are gone. There is a limited #, 36 to be exact, well 35 after I get mine! A mere 36 people in the whole world will be able to say they have the first Smashing Darling Smash Up Tank!
Don’t forget to check out the back, It has our signature Bar Code, only those in the Know, will KNOW! Inside secrets, How cool is that!

The next smash up/collaboration will be available for sale on July 10th.

It’s a well known fact that part of a fashionable girl’s responsibility is keeping the favorite boys in her life looking presentable (and in extreme cases simply keeping them from embarrassing themselves… and possibly you.)
Father’s Day is upon us, and with it comes a great opportunity to keep the dads in our lives looking good. Consider the following…

The bon vivant shirt from Laura Dawson is a terrific start.

This satin Rachel Park tie handmade in NYC will look absolutely fabulous on him too! Who says ties have to be boring?

Who wouldn’t love one of Sugarcane’s Excalibur belts…it seeps manly man.

and for the more relaxed man, go buy him a Prizm T from Exation

and last but not least, who could go wrong with a rubber molded belt from DRES?
Whatever you decide to buy him, make sure you let your father know he is SMASHING!!!!
Happy Father’s Day!

We have theeeeeeeeee BEST community! The latest Smashing Darling Designer to stop by my MerGirl store in Chester CT was the Lov-EL-y Cynthia Jones. I hope she doesn’t mind me blabbing to the whole community – but I’m going to do it any way! She just got married! YEAH! and to a very amazing photographer, Bill Stengel! They ended up being in CT overnight and stopped by, all the way from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Great to talk to her and I got a sneak peak into her new collection! Can’t wait to see it on Smashing Darling! So if you get a chance, go to her store, first subscribe to it, so you always see the latest so you can be the first to have it, then send her an email congratulating her on her recent nuptials! So if any of you are in Chester CT, stop by MerGirl @ 4 Water Street and say HI!

And I do mean HAIL, shower this woman with gifts even though it is called Father’s Day. Well don’t throw heavy objects at her or anything but sprinkle them around her, gently. Just an FYI to all of you new dads out there, IF you are smart you WILL realize this day really isn’t supposed to be about you at all! You are supposed to pay homage to the women that made possible for you to have a day in the first place. Well maybe this isn’t in full practice yet, but imagine the brownie points if you showed up this Father’s Day with a gift for her. Yeah, now your getting the picture! let’s face it, especially if your bundle of joy isn’t quite here yet, she needs all the presents she can get. Pay very close attention I am not kidding when I say this, if she is happy, the whole family is happy! Throwing a pan of brownies in with these gift suggestions wouldn’t be a bad idea either! Literal Brownie Points!

If you haven’t picked up your May 31, 2007 edition of Interior Design magazine, what are you waiting for? While browsing through the pages we ran across Andrea Valentini’s name.
They were talking about her hive fabric that is for sale in either silver, Godiva brown, charcoal gray, or custom colors.
Maybe someone out there would like to collaborate with Andrea on some funky pieces to do together???? It’s pretty cool fabric, take a look:
