Student Smash Up III Up Up and Away

The Smashing Darling cheer goes something like this: Collaborate, Collaborate, Collaborate! Three cheers for SMASH UP III – Up, Up and Away. All of us darlings remember how awestruck we were as baby darlings, and still today, when we spotted a hot air balloon peacefully lifting high above the clouds. We agree we must have been jealous of that bright, beautiful fabric – filled with delicious air – and it’s ability to be free and fly high up into the sky.

Morgan Calderini, recent RISD grad, printmaker, hot air balloonist, and our August SMASH UP collaborator, obviously feels the same way. As a child a balloon landed in her front yard and since then she has always dreamed of flying. You never know when or where inspiration is going to arrive! She designed and built her own hot air balloon in January and is currently in the process of learning how to fly it. Her current studio work draws inspiration from her interest in flight. So now she has built these sweet baby onesies for your special pumpkin who is just feeling inspired to crawl, walk, or jump right out of their crib and fly…okay, or maybe even just to drool!

 

Morgan used a rainbow roll to create many colors using one screen, thus no two will be exactly alike, and don’t forget all the SMASH UP items are limited edition.

 

I love the bar code and smashing writing right down by the snaps! This onesie definitely makes a great gift for all those droolers and crawlers in your life, and you could even wrap it up and tie it right to the end of a balloon! Or you could be as crafty as Morgan and make your own mini hot air balloon and put the onesie in the basket!

 

Whatever you do, be smashing and SHOP INDEPENDENT!
