101 Years of Futurism Fashion Show

Saturday April 24th, 2010 Doors open at 8, show starts at 9. Come see Renovar’s Fall 2010 Collection. Alma Wieser’s latest fashion project, influenced by Marinetti’s early 20th century art movement.

Presenting the ideas of futurism 101 years later, the fashion series
exemplifies the importance of history in an optimistic future, rather than an absence of past. Exhibiting tech couture fashion performance on an unconventional runway.

The primary concept has been influenced by Giacomo Balla’s paintings, Umberto Boccioni sculpture and Luigi Russolo’s noise music. Using color as rhythm, the three dimensional forms suggest movement, only to be reinforced when worn. Each piece is a one of a kind contemporary spin on reconstructed vintage. All design detail is sewn by hand.

Heaven Gallery is a non-profit gallery and multi-disciplinary arts
space that celebrates it’s 10 year anniversary in July 2010. Alma
created the fashion department that is dedicated to showcasing local and emerging designers, such as Heracio Neito, Anna Fong, Cory Allen, Justin White, and Garic Stephen. Renovar began her themed fashion series in January 2009 with her debut collection “Revolt against Recession,” art deco fashion. During her first year, Alma organized four group shows, then presented her first solo show “Channel vs. Schiaparelli” in October of 2009.

Heaven Gallery is partially supported by a Grant from the Illinois Arts Council and a Community Arts Assistance Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.
