SMASH UP XV - Track Bike

On Sale Now!

Are gas prices finally motivating you to commute another way? Especially this time of year while the sun is shining and the snow is not flying. This month’s Student SMASH UP can either remind you to commute another way OR help you suggest it to the world; better yet, buy one for someone who drives their car around the block to the coffee shop, grocery store, post office etc.

This month we stick around the Pacific Northwest with a tee for the guy’s -and maybe the gals?- from Nathan Coyne out in Portland, Oregon. Nathan is a junior at Portland Community College prepping to transfer to PNCA, and this tee is an ode to his track bike - we love it!

I have been printmaking for about 3 years now and I really love it, hopefully I will be able to do it full-time as a career one day. I always like to draw things that I enjoy doing, riding bikes, etc. Since I’ve never gotten my drivers license I end up riding my bike everywhere and that made me want to make a shirt about my fixed gear. I like to create images for areas that I think need more exposure, stuff that I think matters.

Click on any of the pics in this post to open up these images and see how crispy clean Nathan’s print is, and head into the SMASH store to see the barcode on the back. Eco-brown in color, this tee is the earth friendly version of a vintage heather classic from Alternative Apparel, an organic cotton and recycled-poly blend. This tee is also unisex - um, gals you may want to be careful where those bike wheels end up! - we think it looks rockin’ on both of our models above. By the way, a Darling thank you to Barbara and Logan who we stole from work one sunny afternoon in Chester, CT this week! Thanks as well to the talented Whosiepie for these shots.

Thanks again to Nathan, for his super speedy printing, here he is on a recent trip hanging out at Yosemite.

Don’t forget his shirts, and all the student SMASH UP garments, are limited edition and only to be found at Smashing Darling. Check them all out here, an if you know any student printmakers, send them our way! Email mo@smashingdarling.com.
