Well, the big day is here for fashion, Sept. 10th 2009 marks the first Fashion’s Night Out. There is a lot of cool happenings not only in NYC but around the globe. We, modarling and trishdarling, will be bouncing around events in NYC and Brooklyn. Sorry, no Macy’s or Bloomies for us. I am sure they will put on amazing shows but for us it is all about the emerging fashion scene. Listed below are a few of them in no particular order. We know we won’t make it to all of them but girls get to dream, right?
Please if you are an emerging / independent designer or boutique that carries such lovely designers shoot us an email or leave a comment on the blog. We will be sure to keep updating the post.

We’re celebrating Fashion Night Out with our very own Pop-Up Shop! Get first dibs on Market Publique’s Fall vintage collection, including tons of blazers, lace and sequins! We’ll also have pieces hand-selected by Painfully Hip, and jewelry made from reconstructed vintage by Erica Weiner. We’ll also serve some bubbly and cupcakes! Vintage & Bloggers Meetup Members receive 15% – just mention the discount before checking out.

Sir, is celebrating on September 10th by offering custom order services on its styles for no extra charge, with designer Joanna Baum on hand at the Williamsburg boutique to personally consult with interested shoppers. Sir is also very proud to be hosting an intimate window performance that night with 27-year-old Lia Ices, who WWD has called “a shoo-in for ‘next big thing’ status in the indie fashion and music scene.”
Sir’s relationship with local manufacturers—everything the label does is designed and manufactured in New York City—has led to the creation of its Custom Dressing by Sir division, which allows us to pass on to our clients the ability to pick out a Sir style off the rack, then select a shade for that piece from over 100 options, and place an order for turn-around in two weeks or less.
Sir + Fashion’s Night Out
A Night of Complementary Custom Dressing Sessions and Performance by Lia Ices
Thursday, September 10th, 7pm – 11pm
129 Bedford Avenue, near North 10th Street
PLEASE NOTE: Sir will also serve as a drop-off point for the affiliated Fashion’s Night Out Clothing Drive taking place that Sept 10th, with all donated items going to approximately 24 local AIDS-related charities.

Vena Cava and Bird present a disco carnival block party for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out. The party will feature a new photo exhibition and video installation by Susanna Howe, limited edition Vena Cava dresses for $100, a celebrity dunk tank, carnival games, ice cream truck by Van Leeuwen, specialty cocktails by Dokebi and Walter Foods, gourmet pizza by Baci & Abbraci, and DJ sets by Justine D, Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem and The Juan Maclean), Madeline Davy (Free Blood), Matt Cash (DFA), Justin Miller (DFA) and Holy Ghost!
Proceeds from the event will benefit Added Value, an urban farm initiative in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

ROGAN and The Smile along with Bowery district neighbors join forces to bring the party downtown with THE ROGAN LINEUP – an eclectic collective of events from 6pm-12am and perhaps even later.
The ROGAN Bouwerie shop, which formerly housed the Bouwerie Lane Theatre, will reach back into its theatrical roots and set the stage for the ROGAN LINEUP – a celebration of fashion, music and film.
FASHION: ROGAN opens its doors to designers Matohu, Ajna, daraGOY and Salvor. We will also be selling 12 limited edition ROGAN customized Fashion’s Night Out t-shirts
MUSIC: ROGAN invites some of New York’s best noisemakers to perform on the mezzanine. The lineup for the night will include hourly guest DJ sets and a live performance by minimal, industrial synth-pop band, COLD CAVE.
FILM: A screening of rarely-seen footage shot by Albert Maysles including Little Edie, Sharon Tate, Ringo Starr and more. Also, photographic episodes by Anna Gaskell and film shorts from thought provoking artists.
To ENHANCE your MIND and CLOSET, we’ve created a BOWERY district map marking our favorite downtown destinations and events for the special occasion.
Please mark your calendars for September 10th and join us on the BOWERY.
