The smockshop is an artist run enterprise that generates income for artists whose work is either non-commercial, or not yet self sustaining. A smock is a simple double wrap around garment designed by Andrea Zittel – then sewn by artists who reinterpret the original design. As an active testament to Zittel’s principle that “rules make us more creative”, each resulting smock is completely unique and one of a kind.
I love this project. There are ideas swirling all around my head. Would be fun to mash the SmockShop up with the Smashing Darling community for some good old fashioned create a smock fun. Projects like this are so inspiring. To be as creative as you can while staying within the boundary. Like coloring within the lines when all you may want to do is scribble wildly all over the page. Harnessing the scribble is where my fun creativity lies.
Please go to the SmockShop website to download the smock pattern. Be inspired, let it roll around a bit, begin the scribble, start drafting, discipline yourself, and in the end don’t let even one stitch outside the seam.

Darling SmockSMASH? love it!
Yay! I will be blogging about my creation as I work on it. fun, fun, fun.
Wow love the shapes of the garments here and how interest has been created through using heavy fabric for draping. Real classic Yamamoto look to them.
