Artist & Fleas, Call for Vendors

Happy Friday! The sun will be a-shining and warming us up in Brooklyn this weekend. If you are near Williamsburg go take a stroll through the Market in McCarren and find yourself some local goodness. The market is produced by Artists & Fleas (you can still go shop inside too) and is Brooklyn’s longest-running indie and emerging artist/designer/vintage collector market. I always find something I must have when I pop in (tangent: I found Trishdarling the most perfect sparkly ring there), and I also met the super sweet Jennifer Stewart there. Watch her video below, she made the top five in the Free Enterprise video contest, please go vote for her!

Wherever your community is across the country, maybe it’s time to get out there and meet your customers. This is a great opportunity for up and coming Chicago designers to find out more information about Chicago Fashion Resource and to see if the Chicago Fashion Incubator would be a good fit. Darling designer Lara Miller Director for the incubator will be a part of the Q & A being held at noon. All the details are below.

Please go to www.chicagofashionresource.com for more information and to download your application today.

Please enter through the West Randolph St. Entrance, located just West of the loading dock on Randolph St. When you enter Macy’s you will be in women’s handbags. Walk down past the TOUS counter and make a left past TOUS before LINKS to take the employee elevators up to the 11th floor.

Signs will direct you to the incubator from the hallway once you come up to the 11th floor. You can also call Lara at 312-781-5267 if you have any problems.

Independent Designer Anna Hovet selected for The Chicago Fashion Incubator Sponsored By Macy’s

Anna originally shared this with us and all her fans on facebook. We wanted to congratulate her and share another great independent fashion story with all of our community. Anna sells some of her pieces on Smashing Darling.

The program is part of the Mayor’s Fashion Initiative and it provides 6 emerging Chicago-based designers with an office space including computers and software; a workshop room with sample production space and a resource section; a showroom; a core curriculum of workshops and seminars; and mentoring from industry professionals to launch their careers in fashion.
