      SF indie Fashion

This quote makes my heart sing, “Garment manufacturing is quietly thriving in San Francisco, thanks to a plethora of local designers producing handmade clothing here in small batches…”

It is so amazing to see clothing manufacturing on an upswing in the US, not because of big businesses, but because of  independent local designers with small businesses. Thank goodness for social media. If it weren’t for twitter I am not sure I would have seen this article,  How Clothes Are Made: An Inside Look At Garment Manufacturing in SOMA. SF Indie Fashion posted it in their tumblr blog. It’s worth the read.

Seattle peeps who love slow fashion and shopping locally made goods, Thread is coming to town again. It is never to early in the season to holiday shop or birthday shop for that matter. I know I have gotten very good about buying things when I see them even if I have to hang onto for 6 months. You gotta get when you see it. It feels really good to mosey around and take in the whole experience. Little by little your eyes will start to notice items perfect for family and friends. The best part, the person behind the table wrapping your new found handmade treasure in tissue … probably made said object. Gifts are that much more special when they come from with a story. So make sure to strike up a conversation. You’ll be hooked.
