krelwear_NYCPOP

First of all, a big awesome shout out to indie designer Karelle Levy, KRELwear , for flying up to NY to show the DisGlo collection at the MTV SKINS party. ROCK ON.

Second of all, instead of flying back to warm Miami where the chance of snow is zero to none. Karelle has decided to stay for a week in NYC to share the collection with all her fans up here. The info to make an appointment is in the details above.

Five New York City designers of fashion, jewelry and furniture joined forces to open TRUNK in Oct 2009, an exciting fusion boutique and exhibit space in DUMBO, Brooklyn’s trendy fashion enclave. The collections at TRUNK feature unique women’s wear, jewelry, accessories, art and furniture, all locally designed and manufactured. The new store itself provides a backdrop for the products, making a bold statement that “style can be created and found locally.”

Through their partnership at TRUNK, independent designers Aimee Grubel, Bianca Toscano, Ilse Eriksson, Natasha Samoylenko and Radka Osickova bridge many aesthetics and backgrounds, from Europe and rural America to New York City. TRUNK provides an exciting new platform for their varied creations, as well as for the work of invited designers and exhibitors.

The AK Style

Cute dress but I really don’t know what to say about it. The designer really didn’t put a description with the listing in her boutique. That makes me sad. I want to know, what are the fabrics because the fabric at the hem almost looks like a knit in this photo. That would make an interesting combination with what possibly looks like silk charmeuse … and I wonder how long it is? I am sure the model is taller than I. Anyway, it is still a great dress with a fun silhouette … good for a party or celebration if you ask me. You can shop Anavaa Kisasa’s full collection here.

About the designer:

Zulema N. George, the designer behind über funky label Anavaa Kisasa LLC has always been a bit of a fashionista. “Even as a child, I always strived to stand out from the crowd – to that end, scarves became belts, brooches became buttons,” she laughs. “Designing is what really hit home with me. I would sketch anything”. Fast forward a few years and Zulema is at the helm of her very own burgeoning fashion empire. Swahili for “she dresses in fashion”, Anavaa Kisasa is a fashion accessory line that specializes in high-quality handbags. Read More…

Happy reading,
