Born and raised in India, Avni’s designer, Avni Trivedi, spent her formative years immersed in the rich history, vibrant fashion, and beautiful art of Indian culture. From a young age, the crafts of local artisans fascinated Trivedi, who fell in love with the handmade fabrics she scouted out at artisan fairs in the villages of Gujarat. “Happy Days” Dress
Happy Days ADJUSTABLE STRETCH HALTER TUNIC/DRESS
This fabulously sexy dress is soft, stretchy, comfortable, flowing, and adjustable. It is constructed with and “Empire” shape elastic waistband that flatters the smallest part of a woman’s waist. The top is a halter shape, that has adjustments on the bust, to allow for a size B-D bust. The skirt is “A-Line” shape, and it is very flowing, and flattering for the female body. About the designer:
Charlotte , NC Native, Arielle Parker Bergmann, is making her groundbreaking debut into the fashion industry. She began her love for fashion at the mere age of eight years old with the hopes and aspirations of becoming a fashion designer. She expanded her knowledge of fashion and fueled her passion to create with all things around her. Arielle learned more and more everyday by studying the work of the icons and forerunners of the fashion industry. She continued her education by studying fashion design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia . She, now, is an alumni and a recipient of a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion Design. In addition to designing for the everyday woman, she also gives back by sharing her knowledge and love of fashion in the classroom. Arielle teaches fashion and the dynamics of the industry at a local high school.

As a die-hard trend sleuth, I try to resist getting too caught up in the patterns, the textures, and the glitz thrust upon me on a daily basis. My own personal style generally calls for clean, sharp lines and simple detailing. Right now, I’m really into shapes—circles, squares, hexagons—primary/secondary colors, and modern silhouettes, so finding things I loved at Smashing Darling was a breeze.
The large round buttons and sharp pleats of the Kangaroo Pocket Pencil Skirt caught my attention immediately. The deep circles and three dimensional effects of the Juneau Ring and Nerd Belt were so unique, they cried out, “You must own us!” The Lady Maria Bag, with it’s exotic modern detailing and round handle, was a must-have item the second I saw it. Similarly, the rugged exterior (offset by a smooth interior) of the recycled ‘Cactus Drop’ Conveyor Belt Earrings made them an instant favorite. (Who would’ve thought?)
Now, you might be wondering about the Socialist Shoulder Tee given my ‘clean, sharp, and simple’ ways. But it was such a kickback to the 80’s (one of the most awkward and fantastic times of my life) that I just couldn’t resist. The Necktie Hat, with it’s simplistic mod appeal, seemed to finish off the outfit nicely. And, who knows, maybe it would come in handy for those bad hair days (which I seem to suffer from on a regular basis these days). – Jill Trend De La Creme
