Woweee – things sure have changed around here! Well Darling’s, don’t be shy, what do you think about our new look? If you are having a problems at all, please be sure to give us a heads up. Our heads have been spinning with new boutiques opening around the site. Here is an abbreviated, literally, list of where some of our new designers are from: NYC, MO, MN, PA, CA (SF and LA to be exact), and Chicago, IL. A Darling welcome to all!

Our new Event Calendar is live! Now we can all be in the know. Take advantage of spreading the word about events you are having or other indie fashion events in your area. Just click on events on the Darling homepage. It is super quick and easy, and you can load up a pretty little image to go with. Anyone in Miami? Don’t miss the KRELwear sunset garden party this Monday night to debut her new Resort Collection, go to the events page to get all the details!

Between gas prices, AC, and customers preferring to be lying on a beach this is quite possibly a brutal time for retail. Ugh. Unless, of course, you have a boutique right in the center of Beachtown, USA…or you have a Smashing boutique! Customers can still go to the beach, save on gas, and buy from you! We see Summer Sale signs popping up everywhere…you can create your own summer promotion right in your store, here’s how: Login>Click Your Boutique Name> Click Promote > Click Run A Promo. Go check it out and give your customers a special treat!

It’s summertime, are you hanging at the beach, or working hard to take amazing pictures for your Darling store? Maybe you can do both…hey work with us, we’re idealists around here! Grab some friends/models and product, hit the beach for that wonderful light and snap away! Then be a peach and send your store to JulieDarling to critique. It will help you, and all the darling designers, to read a new perspective and get new ideas, then we all feel more comfortable to volunteer too…c’mon take one for the team! ;)

Welcome to # 17 – The Good News

What’s Going On

Craziness and joy abound in the Smashing Darling world – welcome all to version 2, we are reborn! This sweet indie gal to the right is a great image for how we feel, hands and arms raised up in a big cheer! Version 2 makes it so much easier to navigate the Darling world; to clearly see all the different categories of indie fashion that hang within our community. Product images are bigger, you can sort, filter, and scroll. We have hand picked some indie standouts for you in the Chic Boutique, created a collaborative home for indie fashion events nationwide (know a designer in your area having an event? add it in!), and created room on our homepage to keep you easily updated on our latest promotional fun (ie: this month Venuszine!).

What’s New

We love our new look! Please let us know what you think, and certainly if you have any problems – just let us know! Most issues thus far have been solved with a simple clearing of the cache. Computers have a way of remembering how things used to work. Here is how to clear the cache:
If using a PC, you can clear it out by going to Tools > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files > Delete Files > Delete all offline content. If you are a MAC user, not to worry – you lucky ducks can check a box that says clear cache every time you shut down the computer.

If you frequent the Darling blog you’ll notice our lovely new look there as well. Enjoy your Friday coffee, lunchtime, or those last few minutes before you run out the office door perusing the Friday Editors Picks. Sometimes it is the Darlings, sometimes a friendly editor we have smashed up with…you’ll just have to check in and see!

Goodness me, did you know we have over 400 designers?…the Darlings have a new column over at Cause a Scene international fashion mag…the Style Observer hearts indie…our new look gets profiled…and CraftStylish is already addicted!…Darling Evlove made it in to the final round at IdeaBlob, check it out, and we’ll keep you posted for the final round of voting!

A New Area to Sell and Shop, in Smashing Darling Version 2

For those of you that don’t already know, We here at Smashing Darling are getting ready for the launch of Version 2. I have seen the new look and it is gorgeous! There will be a few new features to look forward to. One of those features is going to be a juried selection of the boutiques on the website. I thought I should start telling you all about this so if you are a designer, and you want to be considered. You have plenty of time to get your boutique in tip top shape to be considered for this new area. The 2 most important criteria for consideration to get your store in this new area are photos and having a stocked, updated store. After all, This Is Fashion. Great photos and new product have been and always will be synonymous with fashion. If you need tips on improving your photos, look under categories Photo Tips, in the blog. Stay tuned in, as we get get closer I will keep everyone informed of the changes.
