…as it pertains to fashion. This comes straight to you from Christain Dior’s Little Dictionary of Fashion.
Zest
This is a happy word with which to end my dictionary of fashion.
Anything you do, work or pleasure, you have to do it
with zest. You have to live with zest … and that is the
secret of beauty and fashion too.
There is no beauty that is attractive without zest.
There is no fashion which is good without care,
enthusiasm and zest behind it. Zest in designing … zest
in making … and zest in wearing your clothes.

Flat Pattern: The Construction of a pattern for the upper and lower front and back of the human body by applying goemetry to the various measurements of that body. Darts and seams are outlined to fit neck, chest, hip, waist, and shoulders. This method prevailed until the nineteenth century, when bodices began to be improvised by draping over the lining derived from flat pattern. – Betty Kirke from the book Madeleine Vionnet
I knew there was a reason for my love of fashion design…I love geometry.
