We created a place for EVERYONE who loves fashion that thinks beyond the mall. Whether you want to shop, sell your own designs, meet others, or just see what's new and hot in independent fashion...Smashing Darling is the place that brings all of these elements together and is a community like no other.
The Story
SmashingDarling is the brainchild of Trish Ginter, and was brought into being by Trish and her accomplice, Julie Rorrer, in the charmingly quirky little New England town of Chester, Connecticut.
In a way, the seeds of SmashingDarling began with Julie's own little sprout ... when Julie became a new mom, she was immediately frustrated by the run-of-the-mill baby bibs available, and approached Trish (a long-time indie designer and refugee of the NYC fashion industry) about starting a line of the greatest baby bibs that the world has ever known.
To the uninitiated, starting a line of baby bibs would sound like a simple thing. But both Julie and Trish, having owned and operated successful businesses, knew for certain that this would be no small undertaking. It takes time, energy,
money, and perhaps most importantly these days, a hot e-commerce WEBSITE to make your products available to the world. A daunting task, to say the least.
Trish and Julie had almost decided that the logistics of creating a bib empire were insurmountable and their partnership was not destined to be, until Trish had a rebellious thought (as she often does): Why not create an online community for independent fashion designers, a place to bring the indie world (both shoppers and designers) together, and a place to give undiscovered talents a new level of visibility and marketing opportunities?
And with those dissident thoughts, the dynamic duo began laying the groundwork for SmashingDarling.
