Creating a boutique (as many as you'd like!) to sell your designs on SmashingDarling is a quick and easily process. Here’s how it works, step-by-step.
HOW SELLING ON SmashingDarling WORKS
The first thing you need to know is that unlike just about every other site out there, we do not charge any fees for creating boutiques (as many as you want!) uploading photos (as many as you want!) or for any of the other features and options that we offer to help you customize your boutique and make it your own. Selling on SmashingDarling is 100% FREE until you make a sale, at which point we charge a flat 18% fee. It’s that simple ... if you’re not making money, we’re not making money!
WHAT CAN I SELL ON SmashingDarling?
You’re welcome to sell just about anything that falls under the category of independent fashion, from clothing and jewelry to accessories, vintage items, and more. What we’re not looking for are things like home decor items, bed and bath products, arts and crafts, etc. Our focus is entirely on the world of indie fashion. If you’re not sure whether your products are a good fit, look around on the site to get a better idea, or ask us!
To begin selling, you’ll first need to to set up your boutique. For this you’ll need great photos, well-written descriptions of your items, and your personal logo and you’re off and running. Once you’ve created your boutique, it’s easy to add products and customize your shop in any way you’d like.
Here’s how to start:
Step 1: Sign Up
If you haven’t already, the first thing you’ll need to do is register as a seller. This is a super easy process - the only information we’ll need from you is your contact information (address, telephone number, and email) a username and password of your choice, your birth date, and your bank account information so you can receive payment when you make sales. If you’re already signed up on SmashingDarling as a shopper, you’re almost already finished - you’ll use the same username and password, and you’ll only have to click on the “Start Selling” button in your account to get started.
As always, your information is completely confidential, and setting up a boutique is absolutely free. The only fee you will ever be charged is a flat fee of 18% when you sell an item.

Step 2: Set up your boutique
After you’re signed up, log in to your account. From your account page, choose the “Create New Store” option, and you’ll begin an easy process in which you’ll choose a name for your store, upload a logo, and select from lots of options to make your boutique exactly as you want it to be.
Step 3: Fill your boutique with great stuff!
Adding items to your boutique couldn’t be easier, and it’s 100% FREE. We encourage you to add as many items as you want. To begin add additional items once you’ve created your store, you’ll start from your account page and select the “Add Items” option for your store. From here, you’ll be led along a very easy process in which you upload great photos, enter descriptions of your items, enter your pricing, and select other details about the items you’re selling. In no time, your store will be up and running!
Step 4: Making Sales
SmashingDarling’s payment process is designed to be easy, trouble-free, and automated. You’ll be payed directly by SmashingDarling, and will never have to worry about accepting credit cards or other payment hassles.
Here’s how it works. After you make a sale, you’ll get an email with the buyer’s shipping information. Your store is automatically updated, and SmashingDarling automatically ensures that payment is made in full for an item before the sale is completed. You’re ready to send your item on its way to its new home!
When (and how) do I get paid?
Getting paid on SmashingDarling is simple, hassle-free, and completely secure. Payments are made by direct deposit into your bank account via secure ACH payment. Once an item has been purchased, there’s a 2 week hold on payment. Payments are then automatically generated on the 1st and 15th of each month. Depending on which day of the week these dates fall (as well as other variables like banking holidays and ACH regulations) payments may not post to your account on these actual dates.
