This is from one of my vintage patterns that I just adore! The pattern is originally a 1970s tennis fit, but the fabrics I chose allow the look to be more of a young clubbin hipster with a loud style.
The front and skirt of the dress is black scattered with lots of tiny vibrant hearts of the following colors: lime-green, orange, pink, red, and turquoise. The front side panels, the zipper placket, and the underneath of the collar are turquoise. The back of the dress has hot pink side panels and a black center.
Other details include a twelve inch side zipper, a seven inch front zipper, black stitching on the collar and zipper placket and small slits in the shoulders.
Now the style! What I love about this piece is its versatility for age groups. It translates to a tween or teen going to laser-bowl-a-rama with her grade school friends on a saturday night, or a youthful adult going to one of the hottest urban clubs from Brooklyn to San Fran.
The collar can be worn down to show the simple black side, or flipped up to show the turqouise for a funkier style. The zipper can be worn up, as a modest tween should, or zipped completely down to rock a colorful tee or show a lil somethin!
The length of the dress is quite short, with a flouncy circle skirt. If you are over five feet tall, I suggest some shorts or leggings. Shorties five feet and under, feel free to rock as a daring mini!
Sizing: fits a small to medium, like 4-6
Can be worn by itself more appropriately for 5'2" and under, but can be worn by a taller figure with leggings or killer confidence. (beware of flashing the bum though, shorts definitely recommended.)
