My brooches were an obvious progression from my dog tags. After developing my reuse niche in creating necklaces from previously loved jewelry, I had a sleepless night with no ball chains in my home stock and lots of creative energy to burn. What I did have was a bunch of belt buckles, but I was uninterested in making belts. Using the same concept as my dog tags, incorporating bits and pieces of found materials, I started making belt buckles into brooches. And I did not stop until I ran out of my supply of belt buckles the next morning! These mid-night creations are the first expansion of Not Your Grandfather’s Dog Tag into objects beyond necklaces.
