Merlot & Chocolate Recycled Sweater Felt Earrings

A moment of indulgence…you deserve it! Savor the delicate square of decadent dark chocolate. Take a small sip of the best Merlot in the house! Then pick up that milk chocolate truffle beckoning from the corner of the box. Oh! Life is sweet! And so are these earrings made of recycled sweater felt! The circles of felt are ¾” in diameter and wired together with a sterling silver headpin. Bracketed by tiny garnet beads and hung from sterling silver lever back ear wires.
The recycled sweater felt is created by carefully washing 100% wool sweaters until they shrink up…actually called “fulled.” I love the variety of colors I can use when mixing the felt with stones and metals. It feels good to use something that was unloved, and turn it into something wonderful! My sweater felt jewelry recently was shown at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum for a Gallery Night eco-fashion show. These earrings are an inexpensive and fun way to take part in the fun!
