this new collection is an offshoot of the noir collection- jeweled fascinators shaped like fruits or berries.
large, handformed copper leaves, golden apple- a cluster of czech glass rounds, swarovski crystals, and czech faceted glass. wire-wrapped securely to a dark brown barrette. choose from black apple and golden delicious.
2" cluster, 2.5" leave-span. barrette is 2"

"strange fruit" is a poem written by abel meeropol that was made famous in song form by billie holiday. the poem is a condemnation of racist violence- specifically the lynching of african americans- and the chillingly dark lyrics are cradled gently, are even made beautiful, by holiday's wounded, throaty vocals. it is a song that never fails to move me.
