Summertime when colors are soft and sparkling.
Summertime when gemstones glow!
Phrenite is a gemstone of amazing allure. It is a soft, pale green but then the light finds it and it starts to glow. It almost seems like the stone has captured some of that light and won't let it escape. I have used 3 different cuts of Phrenite in this evocation of summer; beautifully faceted nuggets ranging in size from 9mm to 14mm, delightfull little 7mm kisses, and faceted pears in 4mm and 8mm. Additional luminescense comes from the 4 to 5mm rare White Labradorite smooth pears. They are almost but not quite clear and have that blue flash so famous in Labradorite.
Little touches of pink appear throughout the necklace thanks to sparkling rondelles of both Pink Tourmaline (4mm and 8mm) and Watermelon Tourmaline (4mm). All of the gemstones were handwrapped onto sterling headpins. Sterling spacers add some dimension and texture and the 16 1/2" necklace closes with a detailed sterling silver clasp.
