My name is Hershal Wiggins of Hershal Wiggins Designs Inc.

I remember the days of my youth looking through my granny’s and mom jewelry boxes. Although they were just cigars boxes back then. I will never forget the pre-Indiana Jones adventures of diamond and pearls running through my head. We can’t forget the giant diamonds that my parents mistakenly used as door knobs of course; the journey only lasted as long as the discovery by my mom that her jewelry was missing (than the real adventure started). I can’t overlook how they use to change when they would go out and the jewelry was that final touch. I want my jewelry to be that final touch for the wearers. I want my handmade work to last for their children and grandchildren when they take that playful journey down the road.

I went to Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts) to study Photography. I loved the art of photography (still do) but needed to make a living. So I transferred to Parson School of Design to study fashion photography. I worked for many famous fashion photographers in New York. After reading thousands of fashion magazines, I discovered that I liked the fashion and jewelry more than the photography. I returned to PCA to study jewelry and textiles. Jewelry started to dominate my interest and I flew with it. I returned to Parson to study jewelry. Over the course of the next twenty years I also went to the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Jewelry Arts Institute Again I was blessed and work in many famous jewelry houses. . This story gets too long so I am ending it.
