About Me

I am originally from Argentina, but I live in Greenville, SC.

I have always been motivated to design and create, since I was nine years old, when my mother gave me my great grandmothers sewing machine. I started off by creating little dresses for my Barbie doll.

After high school, I attended the famous "Roberto Piazza Fasion Design School". A highly prestigious school in Argentina that specializes in the design and production of couture gowns.

After graduating I openned a boutique in my home town. It was called "Carolina Soma" like my current line. "Soma" is my grandfather's last name. It is an Italian name, that means "body".

I had my business for four years and enjoyed a great reputation for quality, craftmanship and personal attention.

However, love came knocking on my door... so I moved to the U.S. with my American husband. :)

Since I have been in the U.S. I have participated in the American Sewing Challenge (Passion for Fashion) and I won the first prize in 2007. The challenge was to design a gown for the Detroit Opera Premier, in just seven hours, using only one fitting! I have also participated in Simplicity's Creative fashion contest, where I placed fourth under best wardrobe.

I specialize in evening and bridal gowns. I love to design for each of my customers, so each outfit is one of a kind. I even do my own patterns.
