About Me
Deeply connected to the working women, Coquito specializes in designing for the professional woman who is not afraid of revealing her femininity by using scarves with bold brooches in vibrant colors, textures and eccentric prints. The beginning of this year, Coquito started to design a line of knit wear accessories which sells in private boutiques.
Ivette Navarro, since 2007, is part of the Fashion Design Department’s teaching team at The Art Institute of California - San Diego. Previously, she had also taught at the Fashion Career College in San Diego, CA and San Diego State University – Art Department.Ivette Navarro is Mexican and was raised in Tijuana, Mexico. She moved to San Diego, California to fulfill her dream of becoming a textile designer. In 1997, she earned her B.A. in Textile Design from San Diego State University. Consequently, her passion for creating one-of-kind fabrics drove her to continue her education and earned her Master Degree in Textiles by 2002. While pursuing her degree, she worked as a T-assistant dyer at SDSU Theater Department. By 2003, she took full charge of the Textile Design Department at SDSU. Upon graduation, she set up her design studio in the heart of San Diego downtown, and worked in collaborative projects for Antonella Forte. Upon the arrival of her son Sócrates in December of 2004, she took three years off to be with her son.
