Bianca Kasurinen was born in Sydney, Australia and has lived across the United States in places such as Illinois, New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Maryland.
Since childhood, she has been crafting, sewing, and involved with the visual and performing arts. Therefore, Bianca attended college at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, CA. Then she continued her studies in fashion design at Columbia College- Chicago where she also minored in theater acting. With the desire to work in menswear design, she apprenticed as a tailor. It wasn’t with menswear how Bianca leaped into independent fashion design, but by designing a small collection for a promotional campaign at Zano Salon and Day Spa and Artec Pure Hair in Naperville, IL while still in college. Gowns and other custom dresses continued for several years as she traveled and lived abroad.
In 2006, Kitten Miami was conceived as a lingerie collection with an emphasis on free spirited femininity. One day, Bianca noticed how much beautiful fabric was being wasted and decided to use these scraps and remnants by making simple to elaborate flower pins and head pieces. In these accessories, Bianca found a way to combine sewing, and her beading and jewelry making hobbies. Suddenly, it was like the puzzle pieces fit together, her niche in the world had been found and she hasn’t looked back since.
When Bianca is not building her label, she is cooking, learning French and the acoustic guitar, traveling, and laughing with family and friends! She is also the owner of Girl Meets Craft, making fun plush toys for little and grown up kids.
